Make West partnered with Hensel Phelps, a storied Colorado construction company, to create a concept, design, and build a comprehensive series of feature walls celebrating the company's history and culture.
Inspired by the “honest industrial” interiors palette and the bold brand colors of Hensel Phelps, our experiential design team crafted four installations that are tied together by a strong grid system, shared materiality, and elegant details. The grid system is reflective of Hensel Phelps’ own methodical approach to construction and project management.
Each element is fabricated to be easy to update by the Hensel Phelps team to reflect current states of the company and its community.

Timeline Wall
Founded in 1937, Hensel Phelps’ rich history—from humble origins in Greeley, CO, through to their growth into a national construction powerhouse—is told in this interactive Timeline Wall. Company stats like hours of self-performed work and project counts can be updated via panels with concealed magnetic attachments. The map also features changeable magnetic markers that represent offices and key projects.

Rocky Mountain Livin’ Feature
Work-life balance gets a nod in this feature wall that celebrates the off-the-clock proclivities of Hensel Phelps’ workforce in the Rocky Mountain region. Six changeable panels feature photos of recent employee adventures. Custom Hensel Phelps branded sports equipment ties the collection back to something personal.
Oldtimers Club
This installation honors tenured employees at Hensel Phelps. Name plates click into a concealed magnetic grid on an integrated display panel with a searchable interface. Each panel showcases a duration of service, and is represented by a metal which we custom matched in both wallcovering and paint finish.
Services Wall
Hensel Phelps’ Services team offers vertical support for construction projects. This feature wall showcases their offerings, team members, and project spotlights.
